What is Proof-Ed?

Proof-Ed provides a high-quality proofreading and editing service for anyone who is looking to improve the standard of their written work. My own academic background is in the Arts and Humanities (BA Hons, MA), with a particular expertise in the areas of religion and theology, and biblical studies. I have experience in proofreading and editing a range of different types of academic work including undergraduate essays, MA and PhD theses, journal articles, monographs, and books, many of which have since been accepted for publication by respected international journals and publishers. I have worked as a proofreader and editor for undergraduate and postgraduate students and professional academics across a range of academic fields and disciplines including archaeology, architecture, biblical studies, business studies, crafts, film studies, media studies, mental health nursing, nursing, philosophy, psychology, religious studies, sociology, theology, and town-planning. I am particularly skilled at assisting EFL students and take a pedagogical approach to language revision when editing EFL theses and manuscripts. The majority of my customers hold English as a second or third language and I welcome enquiries from anyone who is looking for some assistance with language revision. Since late 2017, I have been taking on larger copyediting tasks for academic publishers in Sweden and the UK. I welcome enquiries from any publishers who are interested in my copyediting services.

From 2011-2018, I worked as an editorial assistant for Equinox Publishing (based in Sheffield, UK), assisting the editors of journals in the fields of Linguistics and Communication Studies, Gender Studies, Religious Studies, Biblical Studies, Popular Music Studies, Archaeology, and Philosophy. From 2018, I began working as Proof-Ed on a more full-time basis, and have transitioned to a freelance copyeditor role for Equinox Publishing. I also work as a Support Worker and Study Assistant for the University of Sheffield’s Disability and Dyslexia Support Service, assisting students with notetaking in lectures, reading and scribing in exams, and with studying for dissertations and other coursework. I tend to work with students who hold English as a foreign language, and who need support with academic writing.

In September 2018, I began studying Law on a part-time basis at Manchester Metropolitan University (GDL). I hope to begin taking on editing work in this area when I have completed the course.
